Steve Morris Engines
Добавлен 3 мар 2010
Each year we prioritize and build less than 100 exclusive, full-custom engines. Our priority is the relationship we forge with our customers, many of whom have been with us for decades.
Taking a holistic approach, we start with a conversation on concept, goals and aspirations. Our many years of experience have given us an opportunity to maximize returns for clients in ways they may not have previously considered.
Our tuning process is in-depth and bespoke for each customer. We believe in testing and optimizing the engines we build. When faced with ever-increasing power output from our engine combinations, we set forth to improve our testing equipment. With our in-house prototype development and CNC machining capabilities, we developed and constructed our engine dyno to meet the rigorous demands. As a result we now have the capability to (engine) dyno tune engines that exceed 4,500 horsepower.

Great video!
Can we get a "burnt up junk" T-shirt collab with @CleetusM ?
The difference between a great big turbo and a great big supercharger is that Superchargers are awesome, but turbos are a pain in the ass. Ditch the turbo and enjoy racing!
?? So what would happen if a transmission and torque converter were in front of the dyno contraption thingy ?? Too hard to do? Too dangerous? Too much time to set up? But is there a setuo and tuning advantage to be had?
Steve did you think of using the type of boost control system that Mark Micki runs? No waste gates and boost is controlled by 2 blow off valves in the intake tube.
Doesnt methanal make way more HP vs E85???
Could you use a VGT exhaust on the Turbo to manipulate boost pressure as required? I really don’t understand.
Does a motor that is making more power, spin the turbo faster? I ask because when the charge pipe waste gate was open and the turbo didn't respond very well in regards to the turbo spinning faster, my thought was that the feedback loop that the turbo needs to spool itself, was "broken". If the turbo can't increase charge pipe pressure, then it can't give the motor the horsepower it needs to spin the turbo faster. No boost = no spool. Opening the charge pipe waste gate just made it worse in theory. I can see how there would be lots of variables with engine size, turbo size etc. It just seems like in this case, the turbo might spool better when giving it every opportunity to give the motor more power. Even if only a few psi.
Scratch the intake for every race win
HIs sucks dick
👍👍❤❤❤ hey you guys let's help Steve out on a new Dino 🤔🥰🥰🥰👍👍👍👍👍
To refresh this is the one for the boat right
Learned tremendous amount from this video. Nice work steve
I'm a dummy trying to learn please
I'm trying to figure out your lines
Yo Steve you are showing your hand control.. and what its control speed was doing brother
As you can tell I comment as I watch
All apart of progress🎉🎉🎉👍👍
Oh you're the man that's your job you figure shit out.. that's why you're the man
Basically on a pro charged engine you must reinforce and balance from the bottom up.
Call this computer technology you can't put break or load. On as if it is
Oh that sucks the dino can't do which on the road why not,,,🤔🤔
An absolutely do not agree to updates on your phone
If anybody is disagree against government or against Google you're going to be harassed
Hey Steve I know you don't take nothing for granted. But you really got it.. I just wish I could calculate and all that... I'm trying to contain.. bubba's ADD ADHD and how much are the crap.. and being mick and nicker... Somewhat mechanic.. thank you.
It is still amazing to me that people don’t understand that turbos use power from the engine too.
Turbos do not have parasitic draw on engine
@@robertphillips2462 1000% they do. The engine has to fight against the exhaust back pressure. Think about it. If this were not true why were headers ever invented. There is no free lunch in this world. Just simple high school physics.
Can we please see a top fuel blower on a smx with machincal fuel injection please would love to see what horse power it makes and what it sounds like
Hi Steve, theoretically, would the chassis dyno be able to create the load requirements for a big turbo engine? I expect it would be a challenge making up a dolly for ut and too may driveline variables to actually do. Just interested if the dyno characteristics would help
Big turbos always suck at lower rpms, they don't get enough gas velocity to work over a wide range...☹ Twins of a smaller size can help if sized correctly and with oem cars variable geometry makes huge differences to driveability, my 2.2 litre Ford diesel makes over 330 lbs/ft at 1500 rpm with minimal turbo lag, with a variable geometry turbo that has done 201K miles without any repairs required...
Would running the turbo motor on methanol have helped get it to spool better with the cold side gate? Since the extra exhaust flow/energy would have pushed the turbine a bit faster?
Curious how you choose to release the dyno and how long the sweep goes. I imagine the large horsepower runs through the water brake fairly quickly. Is it rpm increase per second? How does that all work? Thank you!
Love the constant sound of $$$ Money in the background of these videos :)
The car looks great, Steve!
would be worth while having a gearbox and a few converters (for diffrent applications) that way you could simulate a more real world situation to aid in developing diffrent strategies to overcome such issues as turbo cars not being able to build boost on the line (ive seen test sessions here in AUS were every car failed to build boost on the line). same with being able to control temp and humidity basically set your DA in the dyno rooms for the same application???
I like the turbo wastegate idea. That is more learning for me!
When are new Wagon shirts coming back into stock? If im gonna go watch Steve i got to supooet the fastest horse on the track; God willing!
For the turbo charger set up. Steve was talking about a converter being involved for spooling up of the turbo. I mean couldn’t someone set up an Engine tranny converter dyno ?? Or am I just speaking of something that’s not possible ??
Those gears look suspiciously like gears from a quich change rear end, is that correct?
Yep
Superb company and people
One giant turbo.
That was an awesome video! 👍
Interesting to note. As Always, May God Bless you and yours! 😇
Can you "dead hook" the load cell to simulate a trans brake spool?
You might find this info interesting ! It's called Rocket turbo anti lag ,there's a patent on it , it keeps your turbo spooled at low engine speeds , was used on Subaru rallye cars years ago , could possibly use on race cars
Is this when you retard the timing so much that it blows up in the exhaust (or while exhaust valves are already open)?
That engine + a Haltech system would be fire
Coming from a total noob. Does the speeded up turbo really have the inertia to do what youre trying to do?
You're from Michigan, Steve. We say "wadder." It's alright, screw them naysayers from elsewhere.. 👍
You should use a "Spool Valve" from "Boost on Tap" in Australia. That get spooling quicker!
How did cleetus not know SMX was a dry deck and that the head could come off without removing the intake 🤷♂? cool vid wish the turbo would have cooperated
I have no clue, because Steve flat told him when he was first putting in when he flew down and they were working on it. Its in the video even. Cleet lately has been fast talking, acting an ass towards people he used to be respectful to, and causing drama instead of his old way of avoiding it. Really haven't enjoyed his cleet and squirrel tow videos and he seems to be acting like that all the time now. Been with him since turbo exhaust whistle, but I've been shutting videos off more and more lately before the end. Watch his latest with his proline engine. He was an asshole to the guys teaching him about the new engine and its maintenance.
The blade design on the supercharger is critical to move air Dependent on the design parameters you design the turbine blades to move "x" volume of air at "y" rpm under "z" ambient pressure Taking rpm "y" *1,6 does not necessarily equate to volume "x" *1,6 at same ambient, it may only be "x"*1,35 etc So the sweet spot has a +- percentage tolerance of say "y" +10% overdriven or "y" -5% and that would be your efficiency range. By simply speeding up your blower does not necessarily equate a 1:1 correlation in speed increase and boost/volume efficiency. You may be getting a 1:0,8 ratio and generate a lot more heat doing it
